Global Privacy Counsel, Thermo Fisher Scientific
Sarah is an experienced privacy, technology and risk professional who began studying the field in the early 2000s. She earned a certificate from New York University on web-design and development and studied UX design before going to law school for intellectual property. She has a BA in philosophy, doctorate in Law and is licensed to the bar in New York and Connecticut. She has provided advice and guidance to multinational companies on global privacy and data protection, data transfers, localization requirements and privacy assessments, DPIAs and TIAs.
In 2019, she founded Data Privacy Advisors, LLC in Austin, Texas to help start-ups and small businesses triage and effectively implement strategic data protection and privacy programs.
Currently, she is privacy counsel in the global privacy office at Thermo Fisher Scientific advising on the changing privacy landscape worldwide. She holds a CIPP/E, CIPM, CIPT and FIP from the international Association of Privacy Professionals and will soon also be certified in AI Governance. She has also written GDPR-based exam questions for the IAPP’s CIPP/E certification.
She was a fashion writer at American Vogue and has also written for InStyle and the New York Times.
