Funke Babatunde

Funke is an experienced compliance and data protection expert with over 23 years in the corporate financial services and insurance sectors. She has mastered the complexities of regulatory frameworks, data protection, and governance through various roles, including Regulatory Compliance Officer and Data Protection Officer at multiple corporate institutions.

In addition to her corporate banking experience, she has successfully delivered regulatory framework and assurance programs in the insurance sector. Her proactive approach to the changing regulatory environment and embracing technological innovation sees her championing responsible practices and strategic application of data within financial services while leveraging them to enhance operational efficiency and elevate customer experiences.

Funke is a Graduate of University College Dublin, and a Chartered Banker with a Professional Diploma in Governance, Risk, and Compliance. She is pursuing a Master of Law with her research focused on establishing a sustainable balance between artificial intelligence and privacy rights.

She is a member of the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP) Training Advisory Board and actively participates in data protection and AI governance communities. She holds the accredited Fellow of Information Privacy alongside the CIPP/E and CIPM certifications from the IAPP, and she is also a contributor to the IAPP online training materials. Funke is pursuing an LLM in Data Protection and Intellectual Property.

She is also a local housing association committee member and independent board member.
