China’s first step to data protection: The implications of the coming Civil Code

China’s recent draft Civil Code is set to introduce several laws that include individuals’ rights to privacy and personal data for the first time. This is a symbolic first step as the country’s 1.4 billion people becomes and more and more digitised, and so more vulnerable to leaks and hacks.

Our speaker will look at the scope of personal protection to both privacy rights and personal information within the Civil Code.
