Tom Cowles

As the Chief Compliance Officer for Box, I’m responsible for ensuring Box meets our global regulatory requirements for Cybersecurity and Technology. I started my career at Box as an Individual Contributor brought on to build out our US Federal and Department of Defense compliance programs with FedRAMP and DISAs Cloud SRG, I then led programs to broaden our compliance reach inside and outside government in Europe and APAC and now I lead a team of outstanding Boxers responsible for all of our Security Certifications, Customer Trust and Audit programs, Policies and Procedures, Technology Vendor Risk and Enterprise Risk and Resiliency. During my time at Box we’ve seen tremendous growth and expansion in the capabilities Box provides from what was traditional Enterprise File Share and Sync (EFSS) to our current Content Cloud which is a single, secure, easy-to-use platform built for the entire content lifecycle, from file creation and sharing, to co-editing, e-signature, classification, retention, workflow and whiteboard capabilities. We’ve launched these capabilities with the vision of meeting the highwater mark for Security and Compliance in every industry, worldwide for ALL of our products - a massive undertaking that we believe, if done correctly, provides a truly frictionless security and compliance experience for our customers allowing them to achieve powerful and compelling outcomes.
