Over the last 12 weeks, in the run-up to #RISK, I’ve interviewed many of our speakers and subject matter experts and the one question I asked everyone was, ‘What keeps you awake at night?’.
You’ll see from the list below that I got a lot of different answers but the one theme that was part of every response was that; “The last few years got us used to crisis after crisis, reminded us that anything can happen and when it does it can impact us a lot.”

You’ll see from the list below that I got a lot of different answers but the one theme that was part of every response was that; “The last few years got us used to crisis after crisis, reminded us that anything can happen and when it does it can impact us a lot.”
- The epidemic of fraud
- Global supply chains
- Environmental disasters
- The mental health of employees
- Ensuring a safe and sustainable world for future generations
- A ‘nation-state’ attack, ‘massive’ Russian cyber attacks
- Geopolitical risk
- Risk of data misuse
- Human trafficking in all its guises
- Achieving sustainable development goals
- How we de-couple our growth as a company from our carbon increases
- Long term societal issues, like those of diversity, equity & inclusion
- How to encourage innovation, but also wrap governance around the data
In summary, “It’s the unknown, globally” that worries us all.
We will tackle all these issues and more at #RISK, ExCeL, London, 16 & 17 November.
One comment that really resonated with me was, “I simply do what I can to stay informed, talk to people and keep close to my values.” – the essence of an event like #RISK.
