Varsha Sewlal is a privacy and tech attorney skilled in providing sound legal expertise across highly regulated public and private sector environments.

Varsha started her career in private practice and then served with the Public Protector. She was thereafter appointed as Master of the High Court. She assumed the role of Chief Director Legal Services and headed the Legal Directorate with the Department of Employment and Labour, Workman’s Compensation and the UIF.

Varsha is currently the Executive heading Legal, Policy, Research and Information Technology Analysis and the Deputy Information Officer with the Information Regulator of South Africa.

She is a doctoral candidate in ICT Law, Privacy and Cyber security. She is also engaged with global internet governance programs and is passionate about development through ICTs.
