Fred Streefland

With more than 28 years of experience within security and intelligence, Fred is currently working as the Director Cybersecurity EMEA for Hikvision. In this role, he is responsible for the cybersecurity of the Hikvision products within Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA).

Fred started his career in 1988 at the Royal Military Academy in The Netherlands as an intelligence & security officer and served more than 16 years for the Royal Netherlands Air Force (RNLAF). In 2008, he resigned as a Lieutenant Colonel and a military intelligence adviser to the Secretary-General of NATO and moved to the commercial world (IBM).

After some years as a security consultant within IBM, he moved to Accenture as a senior manager cybersecurity, followed by a position as the Director Education & Training for ENCS, a company specialized in the OT/ICS Security. After this, he became the IT Security Director (CISO) at Exact Software and later he became the global CISO for LeaseWeb. In 2017, Fred moved to Palo Alto Networks as the Chief Security Officer (CSO) for North and East Europe, from which he switched in 2020 to his current role within Hikvision.

Fred is a cybersecurity spokesperson and advisor for some Members of Parliament. He holds an Executive Master of Security & Defence (EMSD) and a bachelor’s degree from the University of Applied Sciences of Amsterdam.
