There is no doubt that organisations, now more than ever, need to prepare for an uncertain and volatile future. “Risk is now everyone’s business”.

Yet many organisations still take a fragmented approach to risk management, and departments often operate in silos.

#RISK, taking place in London in November, will bring the entire risk community together under one roof, alongside GRC specialists, lines of business decision-makers and the C-Suite, to deliver actionable insight, knowledge sharing and critical information.

#RISK will help organisations identify, mitigate, and manage risks, reduce compliance breaches and improve business performance.

Earlier this week, Swiss Re published the 10th edition of their SONAR report. Patrick Raaflaub, Group Chief Risk Officer at Swiss Re, said:

“A global pandemic, geopolitical conflicts, surging inflation and an unstoppable climate crisis — these are just some of the many risks that SONAR has examined over the past decade that have ultimately materialised.”

“Researching new risks is not about forecasting,” Raaflaub continued. “It is about raising awareness of risks that may impact society and preparing ourselves accordingly.”

The acceleration of digital transformation during the pandemic means that risks have grown exponentially in recent years. Organisations need to find the balance between risks and uncertainties and innovation.

Michael Rasmussen, a #RISK ambassador and keynote speaker, says:

“The risk environment today is an interconnected risk environment. What starts off with a health and safety risk, like the pandemic, cascades and brings in IT security risks from the work-from-home environment.”

Rasmussen identified “conduct risks” as another consequence of the pandemic “risk cascade”.

“As people are on Zoom meetings in their home office, they’re saying things that cross the line of harassment or discrimination, because they don’t think the same rules apply to them at home as in the corporate office,” he explained.

#RISK will be the place where business leaders meet, learn, share knowledge and understand how the lines between cybersecurity, privacy, risk management, and compliance that were once straight and delineated are now blurred and merging.
