According to a survey of 270 GRC & Risk professionals carried out by #RISK, 51% of respondents are concerned about the risks associated with the misuse of AI in their organisations.

The dangers from using AI will only get worse without meaningful regulation and 58% of respondents admitted they had no specific training in place for employees.

Earlier in the year signatories including, Elon Musk and Steve Wozniak signed an open letter warning of the dangers of AI and in May there was yet another warning this time from the Center for AI Safety which had among the signatories, Sam Altman CEO, OpenAI and Bill Gates.

Their statement was stark and simple: ‘Mitigating the risk of extinction from AI should be a global priority alongside other societal-scale risks such as pandemics and nuclear war.’

Ex-Google tech guru, Mo Gawdat, issued a chilling AI warning saying “I have spent my career fascinated by the role that technology plays, and now the biggest challenge humanity has ever faced is upon us.”

The European Parliament recently voted to pass the first comprehensive artificial intelligence legislation, known as the AI Act.

As the world’s first legal framework on AI, the rules could become a benchmark for other countries seeking to regulate the powers of Artificial Intelligence.

At #RISK in October a panel of experts will explore this game-changing regulation, what AI is classified as “riskier”, and what this means for the future of personal privacy.
