This session will explore how DPOs can get the support, resources and information they need to build a successful privacy management programme.
The Data Protection Officer (DPO) is the backbone of an organisation’s data protection programme. Empowered with independence and reporting to the highest level of management, the DPO must monitor their company’s compliance with the GDPR and act as the go-to for complex privacy issues. As such, DPOs face many hurdles, including educating busy colleagues on the importance of data protection, persuading other departments of the value of compliance, and delivering “hard truths” to a management team that may not want to hear them. The success of a DPO depends not only on their knowledge and experience—but also on their ability to identify and overcome these organisational challenges. This session will explore how DPOs can get the support, resources and information they need to build a successful privacy management programme.
